RCIA Volunteer
About RCIA: The Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is for adults who belong to no church, those who seek to be baptized, those baptized in another faith tradition and wish to become Catholic, or those baptized Catholics who have never received First Eucharist or Confirmation. The program is a process of conversion designed to welcome new members into the Church, and at the same time, lead every parishioner to deeper belief and renewal of his or her faith. Beginning in the fall of each year, we gather to pray, study and learn what the Catholic Church believes and proclaims to be revealed by God.
We are looking for: Parishioners who want to participate in preparing prospective members of the church for acceptance into the Catholic faith through education, prayer, and participation in meetings and retreats, and assist in preparation for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and receiving the Eucharist. Volunteers must be Catholics in good standing who are willing to share their faith journey as a witness to those coming into the church. Adults who volunteer for this ministry must meet Pennsylvania State Law and Diocesan Youth Protection requirements. The time commitment is generally two hours per week. Meetings are Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. from September through Easter.
